A World Consensus Meeting on Standardization of Bariatric Metabolic Procedures held on March 22-24, 2018 in New Delhi, India. The meeting sponsored by the Mohak Training Foundation is organized by Dr. Mal Fobi and Dr. Mohit Bhandari. An advisory committee made of Dr. Eric DeMaria, Dr. Natan Zundel, Dr. Pradeep Chowbey, Dr. Kamal Mahawar, and Dr. Abdelrahman Nimeri, Dr. John Dixon and Dr. David Cummings worked with the organizers to host this congress.

This World Consensus Meeting was planned to identify and standardize characteristics of each operation or procedure that contribute to its effectiveness. Innovators and eminent proponents were invited to present standard characteristics of the various operations and procedures. Invited leading opinion experts in bariatric metabolic surgery from all over the world will weigh in on the proposed standards and input were also welcomed from attendees of the congress. Open discussions followed by voting for the proposed standards by a consensus panel took place.
