Dr. Mohit Bhandari is a known name in Bariatric, Metabolic, Robotic, and Endoscopic Surgery world. He is the youngest and most experienced bariatric surgeon in the Asia Pacific with more than 21,000 bariatric surgeries performed.
In 2019, he achieved several personal and professional milestones. By performing 60 surgeries in under 12 hours, he entered the Guinness Book of World Records and the World Book of Records. For his exceptional contribution in Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery across the Asia-Pacific region, he received the IFSO Ambassador Award 2019. His dedication and indomitable will make him a fitness inspiration for patients, colleagues, and team members.
In 2017, Dr. Mohit Bhandari introduced Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) to India — a non-surgical weight-loss procedure. Today, ESG is the most commonly performed endoscopic bariatric procedure at Mohak Hi-Tech Speciality Hospital, helping obese patients lose weight without scars or incisions.
He is also among the first surgeons in India to perform robotic bariatric surgery and the first Indian doctor to perform a single-anastomosis duodenal-ileal switch.
Dr. Bhandari has performed several notable and record-setting surgeries that gained national and international attention. In 2012, he performed the first documented obesity surgery in Asia on a woman weighing 350 kg. In 2013, he performed bariatric surgery on a 6-year-old child, the youngest documented patient in India.
In 2015, he entered the Limca Book of Records by performing 25 bariatric surgeries in 11 hours, with the support of a 40-member team.
In 2018, Dr. Bhandari also performed revision bariatric surgery on the youngest documented patient, who was eight years old at the time of surgery.
